Structural Mad-ness

چکیده
ammalian sex-determining factors with homology to DNA binding proteins are required for splicing, according to a study by Paolo SassoneCorsi and coworkers at the Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg, France). Examination of high mobility group (HMG) domain containing SRY and Sox proteins demonstrated a surprising but clear association with splicing complexes. SRY, the testis-determining factor found on the Y-chromosome in mice and humans, is one of several Sox family members involved in sexual development. It is known to bind DNA, in support of the proposal that HMG domain proteins act as architectural facilitators for building transcription M

Natural product mixture analysis by matrix-assisted DOSY using Brij surfactants in mixed solvents
The assignment of NMR signals to specific components in amixture is a challenging task. Diffusion-Ordered Spectroscopy (DOSY) has provided important progress in this area, allowing the signals originating from individual components of different molecular sizes to be distinguished. However, when the sizes of the compounds are similar and/or the spectra are overlapped, signal assignment can easil...
متن کاملA Structural Model Interpretation of Wright’s NESS Test
Although understanding causation is an essential part of nearly every problem domain, it has resisted formal treatment in the languages of logic, probability, and even statistics. Autonomous artificially intelligent agents need to be able to reason about cause and effect. One approach is to provide the agent with formal, computational notions of causality that enable the agent to deduce cause a...
متن کاملStructural determinants of nuclear export signal orientation in binding to exportin CRM1
The Chromosome Region of Maintenance 1 (CRM1) protein mediates nuclear export of hundreds of proteins through recognition of their nuclear export signals (NESs), which are highly variable in sequence and structure. The plasticity of the CRM1-NES interaction is not well understood, as there are many NES sequences that seem incompatible with structures of the NES-bound CRM1 groove. Crystal struct...
متن کاملNemo kinase interacts with Mad to coordinate synaptic growth at the Drosophila neuromuscular junction
Bone morphogenic protein (BMP) signaling is essential for the coordinated assembly of the synapse, but we know little about how BMP signaling is modulated in neurons. Our findings indicate that the Nemo (Nmo) kinase modulates BMP signaling in motor neurons. nmo mutants show synaptic structural defects at the Drosophila melanogaster larval neuromuscular junction, and providing Nmo in motor neuro...
متن کاملStructural aspects of interactions within the Myc/Max/Mad network.
Recently determined structures of a number of Myc family proteins have provided significant insights into the molecular nature of complex assembly and DNA binding. These structures illuminate the details of specific interactions that govern the assembly of nucleoprotein complexes and, in doing so, raise more questions regarding Myc biology. In this review, we focus on the lessons provided by th...
